Thematic walk: Future Places

The Brussels Northern Quarter is not a district. Hardly anyone lives there, it does not have a centre, it is full of offices and the public space could be improved. Almost sixty years ago, plans were made to modernise the district. Fifty years ago, the first office buildings were completed. Today, many of those buildings are dilapidated and the 'district' faces a transition. What it will be, we do not know. But we can dream.
This walk will take you through the Northern Quarter, its history and backgrounds and above all, its future. What if it became a real neighbourhood, with a station square, with Food Land, Energy Neighbourhoods, Learning and Making Hubs, and green and blue ribbons that give the neighbourhood a face? Who knows, maybe people would want to stay there?

A walk by Brukselbinnenstebuiten in collaboration with Architecture Workroom Brussels.

The walk takes place on Sunday 17 October 2021 in the framework of Archiweek and Slow Ways Weekend and is part of The Great Transformation 2020-2030.
